The main body of the nappy has two layers of high loop bamboo/cotton. An attached four-layer bamboo/cotton super-thirsty booster flips out for quick drying and easy assembly. The Macboo Onesize nappy also comes with an extra four-layer booster that allows you to adjust the nappy for extra absorbency, if needed.
The Macboo by Mandy Mac has an in-built stay-dry liner. Made from polyester, it is milled to be like the polyester used in athletes' clothing. So it keeps baby cool but dry. The addition of the liner creates a pocket that allows you to stuff extra padding in - either the four layer booster that comes with the nappy, a bamboo prefold or a bamboo prefold booster. This means you can customise absorbency levels. Lots of absorbency for naps or long drives - less absorbency when you are able to change regularly.
Please remember that although you have the ability to create an extremely absorbent nappy - it is always best for baby's skin and best for hygiene to change more regularly. Disposable users need the nappy to last as long as possible in order to save themselves money. With cloth nappies, it doesn't cost you anything to change more often!!
Mandy Mac's bamboo comes from China - the place it originated. It is extremely fast growing so it does not need pesticides or artificial fertilizers. This means it is a totally environmentally sustainable crop. Bamboo is softer than hemp, and absorbs far fewer odours - so it is a more popular choice than hemp. Its softness, however, means your bamboo nappies are likely to wear more quickly than hemp nappies. To combat this we have added 40% cotton - to give it extra durability compared to 100% bamboo.
This is a very trim nappy - excellent for popping on under normal children's clothing. It fastens with a snappi which makes it adjustable for all shapes and sizes. Fat legs, skinny legs, trim tummies and pot bellies - the snappi fastener means the nappy will accommodate any and all combinations.
The Macboo is most absorbent after about 5 washes - however it can be used before then, simply change a little earlier than you normally would. Before first use: Wash once in hot water with a little washing powder. This will preshrink the fabric and remove any residue from the bamboo/cotton milling process.
